nine weeks.

(image via flickr)

“ There are roughly three New Yorks. There is, first, the New York of the man or woman who was born here, who takes the city for granted and accepts its size and its turbulence as natural and inevitable. Second, there is the New York of the commuter — the city that is devoured by locusts each day and spat out each night. Third, there is the New York of the person who was born somewhere else and came to New York in quest of something. […] Commuters give the city its tidal restlessness; natives give it solidity and continuity; but the settlers give it passion.

anna sui for target.

As always I get really excited when Target has major designers do an affordable line for them, but somehow I am always let down. This time Anna Sui does a Gossip Girl inspired collection due out September 13th. I'm am a huge GG fan but i'm not so sure about this... Thoughts?

beat the heat.

Chicago has some of the most extreme weather conditions and today was no exception... the temperature hit a sweltering 92 degrees. Of course there is always air conditioning but when you must go outside, you don't want your face to melt away. Anyway, here are some of my favorite products that are made to withstand the test of time. Two additional [not so sweat proof] must-have products are Estee Lauder goddess bronzer, $30 & Bobbi Brown blush in pale pink, $22.

I saw these pictures of Emma Watson the other day... and I couldn't stop thinking about them. She looks stunning... I never got into the Harry Potter thing but she is fabulous.

amorous liaison.

Last week one of my friends urged me to pick up the latest issue of CS Bride magazine... which are actually free around chicago... anyway some of the dresses were absolutely stunning. There are some really amazing gowns in it and I felt compelled to share some of them. One of my favorite dresses [pictured above] is from Priscilla of Boston, so I checked out their website and it's full of more fantastic gowns... even short wedding dresses... which are not to be underrated.

bleached skinny's & ebay-ing.

hands down... this summer look is the easiest trend to re-create with next to no money...
the jeans above [from this mornings ShopBop email blast] are Current/Elliot and retail for $254.00.

These are my old forever 21 jeans that I almost got rid of, but instead took to with a bottle of bleach and a pair of scissors a few weeks ago. I really just poured bleach on them, while sitting in the sun... the sun tends to speed up the process. If you try this at home, I definitely recommend that you wear gloves because you can burn your fingers... eek.

And lastly... this is an ebay auction i'm closely watching [update: i won] ... a fanny pack is a really difficult look to pull off... But LeSportSac does about as good of a job as humanly possible. Ordinarily I would have no use for this... but after working the beer tents at Lollapalooza last summer, I really thought it would be beneficial... So Lolla is on the books again this summer and i'll be prepared this time around.
